Before my sessions begin, I always pull parents aside and tell them a few things to set them up for success.✨
1. I’ll put you in a position so that you both look amazing…but don’t feel that you have to be frozen. Feel free to be loving to each other. If kids need to move around then let them.
2. You cannot be too affectionate or too playful with your kids. View this session as a way to love the socks of your kids. If they feel loved by you, then you’re going to end up with true smiles and joy in your images.
3. If things end up being chaotic…. Pretend like they aren’t. IYKYK. Your job is to look amazing and relaxed. I’ll handle your kids
I think we often go into these sessions with the wrong mindset. We feel anxious and stressed about whether our kid will smile or listen… but I think we need to reframe this. How do we capture “real” smiles? It has to actually be real. Kids have to actually feel loved and cherished. So with that, as you prepare for your session tell your kids how much you love them and you can’t wait to play with them with Miss Tate. Tell them we will play games. Tell them you will cuddle them and give them so many kisses. Chances are, things will go so much smoother for you!
Everyone who books a session with me gets free access to the Arte of Dressing style guides. I want to make sure that that busy mothers of all stages have flattering, stylish options that photograph beautifully. I want my families to feel stress free as they plan their session. Ready for a session where your family is styled beautifully but with zero stress? Send me a message and we will get started!
Each session was edited with The Archetype Process. I shot with my old Canon EOS M50 Mark II, but I have since upgraded to my Sony A7IV. I am loving my 35mm 1.4 Zeiss lens.
