I am often asked, “when is the best time for newborn photos?”.
As a mom to three littles, I know that every postpartum journey is different. Motherhood and the newborn days are stressful enough, and I do not want to add stress to your plate.
Because of that, I typically recommend newborn photos as early as 10 days but there is truly no limit. Most people book their session for when they are 2-4 weeks postpartum, however I have also had some parents wait till their baby is 4-6 months old. The benefit to waiting is that it allows you time to recover mentally, physically, and emotionally while also capturing your child when they have more personality.
Don’t get me wrong, I love taking newborn photos when your baby is itty bitty. They are so precious and the newborn stage truly flies by…. but I also want to be available to support you in your journey. These photos are for *you*. I want my clients to have the most stress free luxury newborn photo experience possible, so if it would serve you best to wait a few months then I would love to accommodate that. You are the most important.
All that to say, there is truly no right or wrong way to do newborn photos as long as its true and authentic to you.
